Thank you to everyone who applied for our internship program. We have been overwhelmed by the response! At this time, the medical internship has been filled for the fall semester. We are tentatively planning to open the application for the spring semester in late December and will update this page.

Completed applications should be submitted to Bianca Long, Development & Volunteer Coordinator at bianca.long@goodsamatlanta.org.

MEDICAL INTERNSHIP
This internship program is designed for individuals pursuing a career as a health care provider; it offers the opportunity to gain experience in the healthcare field, train as a medical assistant, and engage in direct patient care. Our interns work alongside staff, medical assistants and health care providers to deliver high quality primary and limited specialty care to under-served populations throughout Atlanta. The internship includes both direct patient care tasks and administrative assistance needed to maintain clinic flow and follow up.

This unpaid internship is designed to expose future health care professionals to the medical field and inspire them to care for vulnerable populations. Program benefits include:

  • Training as a medical assistant including vital signs, patient histories, EKG,
x-ray, spirometry, phlebotomy, and care coordination
  • Direct patient care experience
Work alongside primary and specialty care providers
  • Opportunities for letters of recommendation
  • Documented health care experience hours

Program requirements include:

  • Vaccination against COVID-19
  • A commitment of one academic semester. This can be extended if mutually beneficial
  • Minimum commitment of one (1) full clinic day or two (2) half clinic days a week. Because this program is built into the actual clinic schedule, we ask that interns make it their priority to be consistent for their shifts.

The internship process is highly competitive because we only have limited capacity.
Due to a large number of applicants, only those chosen for the interview round will be contacted.

NON-PROFIT HEALTH ADMINISTRATION INTERNSHIP
This internship is designed for individuals pursuing a career in healthcare administration. This program provides valuable hands-on experience in the administrative side of healthcare while offering insight into the daily operations of a nonprofit organization. Minimum commitment of one (1) full clinic day or two (2) half clinic days a week. Because this program is built into the actual clinic schedule, we ask that interns make it their priority to be consistent for their shifts.
Interns will work alongside the following teams:
·       Wellness & Outreach
·       Farm & Market
·       Development & Communications
·       Finance
·       Medical
While there may be some patient interaction, the majority of the internship focuses on administrative tasks that support the behind-the-scenes operations of the organization.
The non-profit health administration internship will open at 8:30am on October 1st. We will close the application once 20 applications have been received. The application generally closes within 24 hours so please mark your calendars. Thank you for your interest in this program. Completed applications should be submitted to Bianca Long, Development & Volunteer Coordinator at bianca.long@goodsamatlanta.org.
